                            ...KLH Art.....Kricket...Arthealer the ever-evolving bio

Nightlark Art home of self taught, outsider artist KLH: gallery of contemporary art.
abstract art paintings, digital art, healing art.

Painting since I can remember, I have photos of my little hands with paint-brush in hand as young as a year old.
Well before, the age five I  knew I wanted to be a painter. I am a "self taught artist". I was born in time of the summer of love and the turbulent times of war, both of which has influenced my life a great deal. I was raised in Lexington, Massachusetts... I hope to bring my art to world and share the power of art to heal, like the birth of a "new art r-evolution".

There are times when many, many paintings are born within a short period of time contrasting with times the creations are incubating. Following the ebb and flow of the mysterious creative process. My paintings originate from the creative source,emotions/psyche,  dreams, nature, vivid-inner visual images, meditation, and in response to life & society. My creations are created spontaneously/organically.

I am compelled to create them, sometimes I see them complete in my mind and cannot get the image out of mind until they are a finished painting.  It is quite a task to bring them into being... especially as they often come more than one at time. I have been called an  action, abstract, expressive, and transformational painter. But I am not sure what (if any) category my art really adheres to....the paintings and digital art results in a wide array of styles and for me the experience & process of painting them varies greatly as well.

I am fascinated with both Ancient/Primal Art (cave, rock, symbolism) equally as with present day Experimental Art – Emerging Art
(paint, computer, music, and installations) and the synthesis of varied modalities in a new artistic process.

I am inspired by nature, music, dreams, visions, the magical way of children, and the healing potential of creative expression.

According to Dan Prince Outsider-Self taught Art Dealer and Author of
the book Passing in the Outsider Lane - after viewing my art:
" Keep painting with the jolts of energy. The moments of peace, and your best
effort to do art from the heart -- please keep doing what you are doing!"

If you are interested in self taught and folk art you can click here to see his book on Amazon. He has been collecting and writing about
self taught artists for well over two decades. I met him while he was on his book tour in 1995. I had never heard of the term "outsider artist" until I met him. I recently found out he has put selected photos of my paintings, spoken word poetry, correspondence, and one of my sound collages in an  archive collection titled "The STAR Outsider Art Collection" at Vanderbilt University. My work and the work of many other artists are archived to preserve the art of self taught artists for scholarly research in the future, like a time capsule, to document  art and culture of these
times.

I  was raised and now live in New England, I have also lived in Virginia & Tennessee. My paintings have been exhibited in various New England art shows, festivals, and cafes.  They have also been show projected onto a screen behind a techno-trance band at the Cambridge House of Blues. (a donation of a "projector" would get me out doing this kind of show more often- so if you have an extra one... think of seeing my art full size on movie screen)

I was a contributing member of Global Art Project (GAP) Arizona, donating a circular painting reflecting in Mandela form: the inter-relationshipand harmony possible between all beings, starting in the center with the self, in support of The Global Art Project 1998. I also sponsored a local high school art class to participate in the Global Art Project 2004 (It is really amazing what they created and donated! It is on one of my painting pages if you wish to see it)

Spending time on Cape Cod,  I have shown my work at the Cataumet Art's Fair. I have also exhibited at the “One Love Peace Festival” in Newburyport, Massachusetts in support of The Artists Alliance Against Violence. I plan to create some new pieces to be loaned to local hospitals & veterans centers etc... (contact me if you are interested).

Art is my passion, my healing, and my hope. ( I will be adding a new page about my own art healing journey and the process of creativity to heal)

I also have been making new unique art pieces such as: personalized touchable children's "interactive art" and personalized art
collages for memorable occasions.

Most recently I have been creating some new work combining various found objects, collage materials, & mixed media materials into new collage paintings. My art, photography, and poetry has been used in a myriad of collaborative creative projects, so feel free to contact me if you have any ideas for new projects!

"creativity is nectar for soul and salve for the psyche, Art has the potential to make us whole individually and collectively."

I am inspired by artists such as: Vincent Van Gogh #1 , Wassily Kandinsky, Jackson Pollack, and so many other artists, works of  both famous and nonfamous...I will be adding some info about other artists to my links page soon.  The writings of many people especially: Joseph Campbell, Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Joseph Chilton Pierce, Carl Jung, Ferrucci, Assigoli, Daniel Greenberg, and Thoreau have influenced me (I lived in Concord & Belmont Massachusetts for awhile...that's a long story for another day or for my art blog) and I was influenced by Concord's natural beauty and the famous authors that put their ink to paper there. Also, by poetry of Sylvia Plath, Lord Bryon, Blake, Rilke, and many, many, more ...I enjoy and paint listening to the music of many musicians ....more on this later- for now I will say music is often very connected to my painting. (I will be adding links to some of favorite musicians soon.)

Art is my passion, my healer, and my hope. I invite you to look at my paintings and images as I share my vision, experience, & belief in the healing power of creative expression.

Both as creator of or as an appreciator of artistic expression- we all have much to discover,  share, and grow in the creative process.  I hope that that my website and art sparks and speaks to the creativity within you and that you too discover the potential of art to bring hope, passion, and healing.
